苗栗縣苑裡市場

發現鎮民的活動大多在馬路上舉辦，商業與住宅占滿街道，苑裡缺少公共空間。白沙屯媽祖進香時，市場被夷為平地並進行祈福，這讓我意識到需要一個開放空間。我的設計目標是找到既是市場又屬於鎮民的開放空間。

商業空間將向東北方配置，留出三個開放空間，環繞古蹟區域，形成具有緩衝作用的市場空間。燒毀的歷史古蹟將保留其毀壞狀態，成為開放空間的界面，從封閉商業空間轉變為半開放場所，供社區使用。東側的大同路菜市場和天下路的商業活動將被納入設計，提供從早到晚的使用需求。

設計新的到達路徑，通過連接立體停車場的空橋，直接抵達火車站對面的基地內部，保持空間連續性並創造新視角。這個新市場將是歷史與現代的融合，為苑裡人提供一個獨特的集會場所，希望這樣的設計能夠讓苑裡人重新發現這個地方的魅力。

Miaoli County Yuanli Market

Since the 2018 fire, Yuanli Market has been a void in the town center. Recently, reconstruction has begun, but I believe Yuanli should reconsider the market’s role.

Most town activities are held on crowded streets, filled with commercial and residential buildings, leaving Yuanli with a lack of public space. During the Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage, the market was leveled, and a blessing ceremony was held, highlighting the need for an open space. My design goal is to create a space that serves both as a market and a public area for the townspeople.

The commercial space will be relocated to the northeast, leaving three open spaces of varying sizes around the historical area, creating a buffer zone that can adapt to different activities. The fire-damaged historical structures will be preserved in their ruined state, transforming them into semi-open community spaces. Datong Road’s bustling morning market and Tianxia Road’s vibrant afternoon and evening activities will be integrated into the design, meeting the needs of the community throughout the day.

A new access route will be designed, connecting the multi-story parking lot via a skybridge directly to the site opposite the train station. This will maintain spatial continuity and offer new perspectives of Yuanli. This new market will blend history and modernity, providing a unique gathering place for Yuanli residents, allowing them to rediscover the charm of their town.
