Site
Warehouse 27, Taichung
As-Salaam-Alaikum, may peace be upon you. This design explores the spirituality and home culture yearning of migrant workers. They face issues like not being able to attend Friday prayers. I hope to create a place near the station where Muslims can feel at home and to build a bridge for better understanding.
The abandoned Warehouse No. 27, near Warehouse No. 20 and the Fuxing Factory, can be revitalized for this purpose. These historic buildings, used for local activities, can help increase interactions between migrant workers and locals by combining colonial-era structures with Islamic cultural spaces.
I aim to connect Taichung Train Station’s front and back, offering food and cultural experiences to foster coexistence. Cultural experiences can eliminate misunderstandings. Creating a public space for interaction and exchange between migrant workers and locals is my motivation.
