設計說明

為西區門戶計畫做一個結點與一個詮釋,找尋基地上的紋理呼應西區門戶計畫的歷史,引入一個帶有精神性空間的現代建築送給未來西區門戶。

基地

西區門戶計畫E1、E2

不論是清朝與舊台北城的對立,或日治時期與北車站區的區隔,這塊基地似乎總有著與大時代背離的姿態。在西區門戶計畫中,我試圖找出這塊基地的獨特紋理,並對計畫做一個總結與詮釋。

從基地角度出發,北車的空間應該延續而非斷點。因此,我引入五道水平於北車的牆體概念,這些牆體有兩個尺度:一是用來區分城市空間並引導視覺的高牆,另一是靠近基地前方的小牆。從遠處看,牆體的線條引導人們的視線;靠近時,四個藉由古蹟紋理劃分的空間逐漸清晰。基地中央的一條都市尺寸走廊,引導南北動線,左側一個漂浮盒子則引導視覺流向周圍。

想像有一天,一個遊子遠從海外歸國,點了一碗台北牛肉麵。熱氣中,鐵道宿舍群隱約浮現,隨後是台北工廠和劉銘傳的機器局。雲霧散去,夕陽下的5號水門旁,淡水河畔的牧羊童映入眼帘。左邊是觀音山,右邊是大屯山,這裡是大稻埕。火車曾從機器局駛來,如今火車、捷運、飛機從西街中埕再次出發,西區門戶開啟,火車繼續前進。

Site

Taipei West Gateway E1、E2

Whether it was the conflict between the Qing Dynasty and old Taipei City, or the separation between the Japanese colonial period and the Taipei Station area, this site seems to have always maintained a stance that diverges from the grand eras. In the West District Gateway Project, I sought to find the unique texture of this site and to provide a summary and interpretation of the project.

From the perspective of the site, the space of Taipei Station should be continued rather than interrupted. Therefore, I introduced the concept of five walls aligned horizontally with Taipei Station. These walls have two scales: one is the tall wall used to differentiate urban spaces and guide visual perspectives, and the other is the smaller wall closer to the front of the site. From a distance, the lines of the walls guide people’s sight; up close, four spaces divided by the textures of historical relics become clear. A city-scale corridor cuts through the center of the site, guiding the north-south movement, while a floating box on the left guides the visual flow around the site.

Imagine one day, a traveler returns from overseas and orders a bowl of Taipei beef noodle soup. Through the steam, the railway dormitory group appears faintly, followed by the Taipei factory and Liu Mingchuan’s machinery bureau. As the mist gradually dissipates, the shepherd boy by the Tamsui River comes into view next to the No. 5 floodgate under the setting sun. To the left is Guanyin Mountain, and to the right is Datun Mountain. This is Dadaocheng, where trains once came from the machinery bureau. Now, trains, subways, and airplanes will depart again from Xijie Zhongcheng. As the West District Gateway opens, the trains continue forward.
