Site
Huwei Town, Yunlin County
The emergence of art has a sublime atmosphere, a feeling of wanting to draw a clear line from the world. Under such circumstances, can art still be close to people? How should we respond when art comes to a complicated town? Can an art museum survive in a mixed zone without being disturbed by the outside world? Can it be as sublime and self-evident as a work of art, yet close to people?
A metal half shell landed in the center of Huwei Town, Yunlin County, a town that thrived on the sugar industry. The huge impact created a 30-centimeter-deep pit around it. Soon the surrounding area was covered with flowers and grass. The bottom of the metal half-shell was not attached to the surface, but floated about 40 centimeters above the sunken square, creating a A double-sided chair with a length of 68 meters and a width of 17.5 meters faces two streets. An amiable surrounding garden is born, and the area of the art museum is enlarged; the interior is also enlarged through suspended overhangs and retracted floors. It covered the floor of the sculpture exhibition room and the walls of the painting exhibition room.
The hollow metal half-shell is surrounded by a glass grille. When viewed vertically, it is transparent like a normal glass surface. The garden scenery appears in front of you at a glance; when walking on the side, the original reflection of the glass is broken up and re-assembled. The combined townscape allows people to re-understand the previously familiar environment. As a symbol of the development of the sugar industry, the metal half shell is presented in a streamlined art, hoping that the art museum will no longer be just a carrier of art, but a work of art itself, and the surrounding environment and people will also become art. a part.
